Slow Soundtrack (We Got One)

November 4th, 2009  |  Published in Art, Shows

Someone posted this curiously soundtrack-less clip of the climax of Carlos Saura’s “Blood Wedding”:

Watch the dance that starts at 1:35. This sequence probably won Saura and company several international film awards. If you can imitate it successfully, you’ll win something special at the November 21 Slow Dancing Contest at Kaleidoscope Free Speech Zone (across from Boss Tycoon Smoke Shop) on 24th near Folsom.

No knives please.

Slow Dance Nov. 21, 2009

Grand Lake is headlining and they’re great. So Awesome is playing a downtempo DJ set and it will also be great. It’s going to be a fun party. We’re serious about the prizes too.

The venue is Kaleidoscope Free Speech Zone in San Francisco (across the street from Boss Tycoon Smoke Shop) near 24th and Folsom. They have a sprung dance floor.

This is an ALL AGES Slow Dancing contest. Dance the slowest and win! Dance contest prize categories to include:
* The couples boxstep
* The robot
* The foxtrot
* The running man
* The headnod
* The chicken
* The sun
* The helicopter (chikopokopo)
* The time out (sit on floor, cross legged, while fidgeting or otherwise struggling visibly to not throw crayons at other contestants)
* The too fast for love (any or all of the above, but not slow; you will forfeit your stake in the competition, those are the rules!)

*Note:* We don’t technically know what foxtrot is or what it looks like – so what? If you do it slow enough, you stand a solid chance of winning.

Dancing fast or even normal speed = you lose. Don’t be a loser.

Bring $5 and please don’t be late. Doors are at 9PM crisp. Yowza! See you there.

Show – Friday 7-25-08 at Thee Parkside, SF

Delivery is Possible sweet green tea with mint

Thee Parkside is a bar; they call it a “premier dive bar”. It has a nice patio.

I’m performing there next Friday. There are two other bands on the bill; The Provisionals and Arcadio. Both bands are great.The Provisionals play first, followed by Arcadio, followed by me.

I’m in the mood for a singery-songwritery set so that’s what I’ll do. Why not?

Meanwhile I’m working slowly on wrapping up the new Delivery is Possible record and producing an as yet unnamed record of beat driven hip hop/electronica. Spent part of the day remixing a Martin Brothers song for the Dirty Bird Remix contest. Maybe I’ll post that one here when it’s done.

Portland Shows

March 17th, 2008  |  Published in News, Shows

This Friday afternoon in Portland I’m playing a show at the Pacific Northwest College of Art.

It’s part of an multimedia installation that my friend Greg from Thousand Points of Light put together. Greg and I will be playing guitars, synths, loopers, samples… whatever kind of noise we can muster for the young stumptown scholars. The PNCA common room is a big room. We’ll bring a big sound. Show starts at 12:30.

Saturday evening we’re playing a private party in Portland. Contact me if you’re interested in getting on the list.

We’re putting out the word to folks in Portland to help us set up one or two shows for Sunday. More show info to come…
